Alieza Durana

Alieza Durana was a senior policy analyst in the Better Life Lab at New America, where she researched and wrote about barriers to social and income equality, especially at the intersection of work, gender, and social policy.

Before joining New America, Alieza's work spanned the Department of Housing and Urban Developmentā€™s Promise Zones initiative, social services in the Washington metro area, and Fulbright research on social policy integration in the European Union. Alieza has a master's in public policy from the Hertie School of Governance (Germany) and a BA in international and area studies, Spanish and German from Washington University in St. Louis. Her writing has appeared in Slate, the Atlantic, and Pacific Standard, among other publications.
