A Chapter of: Living Up to Its Promise: Three Ways to Make Teacher Degree Apprenticeship Programs Work
Methodology
We conducted Zoom interviews with 15 leaders operating programs in 17 states, spoke with five experts with experience providing technical assistance and supporting programs, and visited two teacher degree apprenticeship programs in Colorado, St. Vrain Valley Schools and Morgan County School District Re-3, for one day each (see Appendix for more details on each program we spoke with). At St. Vrain and Morgan County, we saw apprentice teachers in action in the classroom and spoke with nearly two dozen current and former apprentices, higher education leaders, and school district staff, including principals and mentor teachers.
Though there are degree apprenticeships in other education sector occupations, we narrowed our scope just to teacher apprenticeship because it is the most popular degree apprenticeship occupation.
