Podcast
July 19, 2023

On October 1st, 1984, Catherine Fuller was brutally murdered in the H Street Corridor of Washington, DC. Her death shattered the city, leading to the wrongful arrests of 17 young Black men—the largest number in DC history for a single murder. Eight of them were sentenced to life in prison. They’ve always maintained their innocence.

Years later, hidden evidence came to light, prompting a reevaluation of the case. Almost 40 years after their convictions, the accused men share their harrowing stories of false confessions, years behind bars, and the failures of a flawed justice system. Along the way, experts, attorneys, journalists, and reform advocates shed light on the deep-seated biases still present today.

This is The Alley: DC’s 8th and H Case.
