Pauline Dow joined San Antonio ISD as deputy superintendent in June 2017, bringing to the District a focus on establishing meaningful learning goals, strengthening school-community partnerships, and promoting a standard of excellence and a culture of collaboration at all levels. An education leader dedicated to improving and enhancing student's learning experiences at school, she is a designer of high performing collaborative teams and impactful professional learning for school leaders and other stakeholders that sparks team members' enthusiasm and promotes their agency and efficacy by encouraging their creativity, innovation, and unique talents.
Much of Dow's research, training and methodology were born and nurtured during a three year W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Leadership Fellowship. This program enables professionals to travel to more than a dozen countries to explore new interdisciplinary pathways, develop a broader knowledge and experience base, and challenge their own perspectives on pressing issues of national and international concern.
Prior to joining San Antonio ISD, Dow was Chief Instructional Officer for North East ISD, and Chief Academic Officer for Austin ISD. In each of these roles, she led teams to streamline support to all campuses to align curriculum, instruction and assessment at all levels.
Dow has more than 28 years of experience in public education. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in history and education from The University of Texas at El Paso and a doctoral degree also from The University of Texas at El Paso. She is a recipient of the Gold Nugget Award for the College of Education and Dissertation of the Year Award from The University of Texas at El Paso.
