Nia Ariel Davis Sigona

Strategic Advisor, Higher Education

Nia Ariel Davis Sigona is a strategic advisor working with New America’s Higher Education team to achieve systems change for caregiving students. She advises on strategies & tactics to meaningfully center students and equity in policymaking conversations.

Nia connects people and ideas across education law, policy, and practice throughout the cradle-through-career ecosystem. Her expertise includes leading teams and coalitions in collective impact-styled efforts to advance policy and practice for Black and Brown students. Nia’s work has ranged from federal advocacy for postsecondary students to local PK-12 district policymaking, with specific experience with college transfer systems, charter school accountability, student parent federal policy, and more.

Nia holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she focused on education law and policy. Before attending law school, Nia taught English as a Second Language with WorldTeach in Quito, Ecuador and proudly served as a City Year corps member in New York City.
