Jonathan joined New America’s Future Frontlines program in 2020. Jonathan has used open source intelligence methods to conduct investigations of Russian Private Military Security Companies and their links to extremist ideologies. As a part of these investigations, Jonathan has geolocated areas of operations and training locations of Russian PMSCs, conducted link and flow analysis of the associated groups and persons, conducted general assessments of PMSC capabilities, and documented fundraising methods, including blockchain analysis.
Jonathan's research interests center on understanding the dynamics of non-state paramilitaries and other irregular forces with their state sponsors. He holds a Master's in Global Security and a Bachelor's in Political Science from Arizona State University.
