Jon Hutchinson is Director of Training and Development for the Reach Foundation, which supports schools and multi academy trusts in England to develop cradle to career provision within their communities. The Reach Foundation believes that a great school is necessary but not sufficient for all children to enjoy lives of choice and opportunity, and that schools are able to play a broader role in their communities to ensure that families are well-supported and children flourish. Prior to this, Jon spent a decade as a primary school teacher and then assistant headteacher. Whilst teaching, Jon was also a Visiting Fellow with the Ambition Institute, working as a tutor on a Master's in Expert Teaching degree programme.
Jon has acted as an expert advisor to the UK Government's Department for Education, including as part of the core group which developed the Early Career Framework, which underpins the induction of all new teachers in England. He was also part of the founding group to establish Oak National Academy during the Covid-19 Pandemic, which provides tens of thousands of free online lessons for all age groups and in all subjects. As well as leading the primary humanities curriculum, Jon contributed over 60 lessons himself.
Jon holds a first class BA (Hons) in Philosophy, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the UCL Institute of Education, and a Master's degree in Education from the University of Cambridge.
