Jason Stewart

In Loving Memory, 1969–2023

Jason Stewart was the production manager at New America. Before joining New America, Stewart worked at TV One as the technical manager for “News One Now” with Roland Martin, where Stewart was in charge of all the show’s remote broadcasts.   

Prior to that, Stewart spent 15 years as the operations supervisor for NBC Universal / CSN Washington. In that role, Stewart supervised a staff of 15 full-time and freelance employees who were responsible for the quality broadcast of national sporting events including: Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, pre- and post-games for the Washington Football Team and the Baltimore Ravens.   

From 1993 to 2001, Stewart worked with Home Team Sports as a producer for the Leukemia Sports-A-Thon which auctioned off sports memorabilia for the Leukemia Society of America. While there Stewart worked as a master control operator, studio technician, and on-air promotions editor.  

In addition, Stewart worked as a segment producer for the nationally syndicated television show “James Brown: The Man, The Music and The Message,” and as a program associate for PBS as well as the television show  “America’s Most Wanted” hosted by John Walsh. 

Stewart was an ambassador for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the NAACP, and the National Urban League. Stewart also served as a volunteer on the 2009 and 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee.   

Stewart held a bachelor’s degree in media/television production from Howard University.
