Emma Fenstermaker is a freelance researcher with New America Chicago, specializing in community recruitment and engagement, analysis, and writing. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa, and a Master's in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.
Primarily a qualitative researcher, Fenstermaker has prior experience in health psychology research at Carnegie Mellon University, sentencing reform advocacy with the Abolitionist Law Center, and research on the operationalization of economic recovery equity following the pandemic through the Build Back Better Regional Challenge. She is passionate about community-based research that seeks to challenge systemic injustice.
In her free time, Fenstermaker is usually reading or testing out new recipes.
