As the senior development coordinator at New America, Emily Lerman supported the development team in managing the donor database, writing development communications, and offering general support for donor engagement strategies.
Prior to this position, Lerman spent two years working at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala. as their distinguished gifts engagement specialist. In this role, she created monthly reports for the development team, managed communication strategies for major donors, and assisted with special projects. She previously interned with organizations such as Amnesty International USA, Human Rights First, Friends of FAI, and Foundation Source.
Lerman earned her master’s degree in international politics with a focus in postcolonialism, human rights, and refugee studies from Aberystwyth University. She also received her bachelor’s of arts degree in international studies and Italian at Vassar College.
