Donnell Probst is the Associate Director of the National Association for Media Literacy Education. A former college reference librarian, Donnell holds a BA in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Arizona State University and a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. Donnell has worked with NAMLE in a variety of capacities since 2014. She has served as Editor of NAMLE’s newsletters, Program Coordinator for U.S. Media Literacy Week, Communication and Operations coordinator, and Program Co-Chair for the 2019 NAMLE Conference.
As a librarian, Donnell is excited about the intersection of information and media literacy and the growing number of librarians contributing to and participating in the field. As the parent of an individual with a disability and a special education advocate, she is interested in how adolescents with developmental disabilities interact with and interpret social media messages, and how the representation of people with disabilities in media impacts their interaction with their non-disabled peers, teachers, employers, and members of the general public.
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Donnell now lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband, Tim, their three children, and their beagle, Bogart T. Higginbotham, a.k.a. “Bogey”.
