Benjamin Herold

Benjamin Herold is a veteran education reporter whose work has appeared in Education Week, PBS NewsHour, Huffington Post, The Hechinger Report, NPR, WHYY, and the Philadelphia Public School Notebook. His new book, Disillusioned: Five Families and the Unraveling of America's Suburbs, was hailed by the Atlantic as "astonishingly important" and by The New York Times Book Review as "an up-close, intimate account of life [in suburbia] that resounds with deeper meaning."

Herold has a master's degree in urban education from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he lives with his family.
