Alexandra Manuel is a former advisor for the GYO National Network at New America. She is a policy consultant focused on addressing equity and access in the workforce. Over the last several years, she has focused on addressing educator shortage and educator diversity in the workforce.
Manuel is the former executive director of the Washington State Professional Educator Standards Board. She is committed to addressing equity, diversity, and a talent shortage within the education sector. In addition, she served as the director of the Washington State Paraeducator Board, the first such group in the nation. Manuel is focused on providing greater access to the educator workforce lifting up community assets including language and culture. In addition, she serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Alternative Certification, providing leadership on educator pathways and workforce development. She earned her BA degree at George Mason University in organizational development and social change and her MEd from Seattle University in student and community development administration.
