Open Technology Institute at 15

Celebrating OTI’s 15 years of impact and reimagining the next 15 years of tech policy
Event

This year marks the 15th anniversary of New America’s Open Technology Institute! To commemorate the milestone, OTI is bringing together game changers from across its vast network for timely conversations around the future of tech policy.

Join us for an afternoon of discussion centering the following questions:

  • What tech policy issues will be significant in the next 15 years?
  • What’s missing in the current discourse around these issues?
  • Are any tech policy issues misrepresented in the media?
  • What should we be doing now in anticipation of the tech policy issues that will likely come to bear in the next 15 years?

We're excited for the thought leaders and experts who founded, shaped, and led OTI through its 15-year history to join us for a panel on where the field has been and where it needs to go. The panel includes:

  • Kevin Bankston, Senior Advisor on AI Governance, Center for Democracy and Technology
  • Lilian Coral, Vice President, Technology and Democracy, New America; Head, Open Technology Institute, New America
  • Alan Davidson,  Head of Government Affairs at Databricks, former Assistant Secretary of Commerce
  • Sascha Meinrath, Palmer Chair in Telecommunications, Penn State University,  Director, X-Lab
  • Sarah Morris, Managing Director, Waxman Strategies, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce
  • Chhaya Kapadia, Chief of Staff, Open Technology Institute, New America (Moderator)

The day will end with a reception celebrating the rich community of advocates, researchers, organizers, and innovators who have made an impact at OTI and beyond.

This event is free and open to the public.

Registration for attending the event in-person is now closed, but a portion of OTI at 15 will be livestreamed. Follow the link to register and join us virtually!
