Eviction is one of the most visible manifestations of America’s housing crisis. Millions of families face eviction each year, and yet, the data we rely on to understand evictions is commonly incomplete, inaccurate, and inconsistent. Local leaders need accurate and timely eviction data to design effective eviction prevention policies and programs that meet the needs of their communities.
To help solve this pressing challenge, the Future of Land and Housing program (FLH) at New America launched the Eviction Data Response Network (EDRN). Our inaugural cohort, launched in 2024, consists of nine city-, county-, and state-level partners who are seeking to understand, access, and use their local eviction data to shift policy and adjust programming to promote housing stability. This builds on our previous work developing the Foreclosure and Eviction Analysis Tool (FEAT), a web application that maps housing loss data.
As part of EDRN, FLH developed the following reports, tools, and explainers to help guide EDRN partners—and other nonprofits, governments, and universities—to understand, access, and analyze local eviction data.
