A Vision for Economic Renewal
An American Jobs Agenda
Event
Featuring Leo Hindery, Jr., Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA)
America is suffering from a profound jobs crisis. The unemployment rate is rising again. Millions of Americans have given up looking for a job. Yet, here in Washington, cutting spending and closing deficits occupy center stage. Neither the administration nor Congress seem to have a job creation agenda.
At this July 22 event, the New America Foundation and the Task Force on Job Creation released A Vision for Economic Renewal: An American Jobs Agenda. The task force has developed 15 recommendations -- covering manufacturing, international trade and China, the green economy, infrastructure development and youth unemployment -- the administration and Congress need to take now in order to put America back on a path to full employment and economic recovery.
