[ONLINE] - Black Community Voice, Civic Engagement, and Identity’s Role in Safety & Resilience

"California COVID and the Black Community" Session IV
Event

Join New America CA on Thursday, June 11th at 2:30 PM PDT for, Black Community Voice, Civic Engagement, and Identity’s Role in Safety & Resilience, the 4th and final session in our online series, “COVID and the Black Community.”

While it’s true that the COVID-19 outbreak impacts all Americans, it has, quite simply, impacted Black America differently. The coronavirus has deepened disparity. Longstanding systemic barriers and racism have intergenerational impacts and have set the stage on which the current situation is played out -- we cannot respond to the crisis without facing those barriers explicitly and as a community.

On Thursday, we will explore how community voice, civic engagement and how the current protests against America’s other virus – racism – play into the larger conversation of the future of resilience and safety in the Black community and beyond.

Registration is free and open to all.
