Paid Leave Leapfrogging

We know that the U.S. isn't Sweden, Canada, or Australia. But that doesn't preclude it from learning lessons about how nearly every other advanced economy has successfully passed and implemented policies related to paid leave and flex time -- and using those lessons to avoid previous pitfalls in designing our own paid leave infrastructure. How can these diverse experiences inform the next legislative cycle? How can we translate lessons from abroad (and from successful state efforts) into actionable strategies at the local, state and national levels of government?

Join the World Bank Group's Women, Business and the Law and New America's Better Life Lab for a conversation about these global lessons, and how laws, regulations and institutions differentiate between women and men and affect their capacity to work or set up a business. Pulling from the World Bank Group's most recent Women, Business and the Law report and using the combined expertise of local, national and world experts, we'll shed a spotlight on two issues that are particularly important to encouraging women's labor force participation and entrepreneurship: paid leave and flex time.
