    Better Life Lab Podcast

Economists say the way we work has become so stressful it’s now the fifth leading cause of death. Our mission is to find a better way. Explore the art and science of living a full and healthy life with behavioral and social science researchers who can help us better understand what drives our human experiences, and how to change.

Better Life Lab is a co-production from New America and Slate.

    Learning Ecosystems

    Learning Ecosystems

The National Commission on Learning Ecosystems (NCLE) is a two-year project to examine how place-based models of learning ecosystems are working to improve public education and help children, youth, and families thrive. These ecosystems are made up of varied sites of learning in a geographic community, including schools and districts, libraries, museums, early learning programs, afterschool and summer programs, recreation centers, technology hubs, public media stations, post-secondary campuses, university extension centers, and more.

A growing number of national, state, and local leaders are already highlighting the groundbreaking potential of connecting these sites of learning. The commission brings together more than 20 national leaders and 12 regional leaders to build on this momentum. We will be synthesizing work to date and examining how these ecosystems can continue to expand and support children, youth, and families, especially those too often left out of the learning experiences needed for twenty-first century success.
