Methodology

Our findings come from an Ipsos dual frame landline/cellphone poll conducted from February 24 to March 9, 2017. A sample of 1,000 adults from the continental U.S., Alaska, and Hawaii were randomly selected and interviewed in English or Spanish. There were oversamples of 150 African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and current college students, respectively, for a total sample size of 1,600.

All sample surveys and polls may be subject to sources of error, including, but not limited to, coverage error and measurement error. Based on the sample size, common assumptions about the distribution of the underlying population and potential design effect (DEFF), our poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.3 percentage points for all respondents.
