    Future of Land & Housing

    Future of Land & Housing

New America’s Future of Land & Housing program envisions a nation where everyone has an affordable, safe, and stable home near well-paying jobs, good schools, and strong communities. We are a team of housing policy entrepreneurs who identify high-impact solutions to urgent housing problems, test those solutions with local communities and civic leaders, and then leverage our national network and platform to accelerate adoption at scale. By bridging research, policy, narrative change, convening, and implementation, we connect academics, national policymakers, and local leaders. Our current focus areas include eviction prevention, climate mobility, and expanding affordable housing supply.

    Co-Governance Project

    Co-Governance Project

American democracy is facing a crisis of trust, belonging, legitimacy. Across the country, grassroots organizers, public servants, technologists, and community leaders are experimenting with new ways to engage people in public decision-making and give people civic agency and voice. The Co-Governance Project at New America is tracking these innovations by engaging multi-sector leaders across communities including organizers, city officials, residents, philanthropists, nonprofits, and businesses to see what kinds of institutions, organizations, and policies promote genuine civic belonging and agency. We bridge theory and practice, sharing insights and best practices to help build more responsive and participatory democratic systems.

    CivicSpace

    CivicSpace

CivicSpace is a nonprofit public policy lab that brings everyday Americans—across political beliefs, racial backgrounds, and life experiences—into the heart of democratic problem-solving. We use human-centered design and real-world testing to craft policies that reflect the realities of hardworking people often left out of traditional decision-making.

Through our work, community members have made it clear: economic stability is at the heart of the American Dream. We focus on improving the cost of living and expanding opportunities for wealth building through topics such as affordable housing, income supports, benefits, and access to good jobs. We engage and unite residents, local leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders to co-create practical solutions grounded in lived experience. These insights drive our policy work and media partnerships, bridging divides with shared priorities.

We believe good policy isn’t about left or right—it’s about what works. CivicSpace turns good intentions into real impact, making government more responsive, accessible, and effective for all.

    Future Frontlines

    Future Frontlines

Future Frontlines examines how digital technologies, cyber operations, and AI are transforming global conflict and influence. As power shifts from states to individuals, corporations, activists, and authoritarian regimes, traditional security frameworks no longer explain where the real frontlines exist. We help the public and policymakers make sense of this new terrain through open-source intelligence, data analysis, and investigative methods to uncover patterns that shape competition and narratives both online and off.

Working alongside journalists, technologists, and human rights defenders, we leverage publicly available data and open-source investigative tools to hold power to account and illuminate dynamics often hidden from view. Future Frontlines is built on the idea that next-generation security requires networked investigators and networked solutions.
