Emily Koh

Emily Koh is a Fellow at New America and the Founder and Executive Director of Moving History Forward, an initiative to reimagine the goals of the historic 1977 National Women’s Conference for a new era and fulfill its promise to achieve gender equity in America now.

A steadfast advocate for gender equity and women’s rights, Emily has over 15 years of experience developing public policy, running programs and initiatives, and managing campaigns. Most recently, she served in the Biden-Harris White House on the Gender Policy Council, a first-of-its-kind office that advanced gender equity and equality in domestic and foreign policy. On the Council, Emily led the Administration’s implementation of the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality across the federal government and worked on both the domestic and global policy portfolios. Before serving in the White House, Emily worked in the public and private sectors in roles focused on strategic planning, operations, and program management. At TIME’S UP, Emily oversaw the organization’s strategic planning process, campaigns, and special projects. Prior to TIME’S UP, she was an executive director at the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), where she managed a team that helped businesses start and grow in all five boroughs and strengthened the economic security of thousands of women entrepreneurs throughout New York City. Before serving in New York City government, Emily worked at LeanIn.Org, where she led a global community of over 30,000 Lean In Circles around the world.

A native of New Haven, CT, Emily began her career on political campaigns and in education and media. She received a BA from Yale University and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
