Darjan Vujica

Fellow, Future Security

Darjan (Jani) Vujica is a fellow with the Future Security program and a former senior official at the Department of State. An expert in information warfare, his work focuses on countering foreign information manipulation and the strategic impact of artificial intelligence on public diplomacy and national security.

During his diplomatic career, Vujica served as the Senior Official for International Partnerships in the Global Engagement Center. There, he conceived, drafted, and led the development of The State Department’s first-of-its-kind flagship initiative “Framework to Counter Foreign State Information Manipulation,” which 22 governments, including all G7 nations, endorsed. While at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, he served as the Emerging and Critical Technology Coordinator, overseeing interagency partnerships with India on AI and quantum computing. He also served as the Director of the Analytics & Research Directorate and developed the U.S. government’s first unclassified threat-analysis and information-sharing platform.

Vujica co-authored the Foreign Affairs article, “AI Is Supercharging Disinformation Warfare and America’s Defenses Aren’t Ready,” and his analysis has also been featured in The National Interest and The Hill. He holds an MA in International Studies from the University of Denver.
