[ONLINE] - Tweeting, Diplomatically

Ambassadors throughout history have juggled the competing imperatives of communicating with their host nation's government, its people, and the leadership of the foreign government they represent. Social media has made this triangulation far more transparent and simultaneous, for better and worse. In the complex US-Mexico relationship, for example, ambassadors from each country in the other's capital have taken to Twitter in recent years to conduct a more personalized, immediate digital diplomacy.

Join Future Tense and Convergence Lab in a conversation with Ambassador of the U.S. to Mexico Christopher Landau and Ambassador of Mexico to the U.S. Martha Bárcena on the hows and whys of ambassadorial tweeting. The event will be in English with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.
