The Department of Education is considering what information should be collected for the Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP). On December 15, 2020, New America's higher education team submitted public comments highlighting the importance of collecting useful data on how accreditors do their work. This data helps provide transparency into how accreditors hold institutions responsible for the quality of their programs, which helps ensure students receive high-quality education and tax-payers dollars used for higher education are well spent.
