[ONLINE] - Fellowship Programs Create Pathways to Career in Public Interest Technology

Event

Join representatives from Schmidt Futures and Coding it Forward for a conversation on opportunities to enter the career field in Public Interest Technology (PIT) through hands-on experience, leadership training and professional networking.

The Civic Digital Fellowship at Coding it Forward empowers early-career technologists to explore careers in public service through a 10-week internship. Over 300 Fellows have served at 12 federal agencies since the initial launch at the U.S. Census Bureau in 2017.

The Schmidt Futures’ Associate Product Manager program creates a first-of-its-kind pathway for talented young leaders with training in computer science and machine learning to enter the PIT field. It recruits and deploys undergraduates and graduates to tackle technical, product, and strategy programs with social impact organizations on 6-12-month rotations.

The Quad Fellowship, operated by Schmidt Futures, sponsors 100 exceptional American, Japanese, Australian, and Indian master’s and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to study in the United States. The fellowship develops a network of science and technology experts committed to advancing innovation and collaboration in the private, public, and academic sectors, in their own nations and among Quad countries.

The event is presented by New America’s Public Interest Technology University Network, which has a membership of 48 diverse colleges and universities, working to strengthen public interest technology as a discipline and a career.
