Sarah Yager has spent 30 years advancing human rights at the intersection of national security, civil society, and communities affected by conflict. She served in the Clinton White House, the Obama State Department, and the Trump Department of Defense. As executive director of the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), she helped establish civilian harm mitigation as a core element of military operations. She recently served as Washington director of Human Rights Watch.
