Jason Rittenberg is a Fellow with New America’s Future of Work & Innovation Economy initiative. He is a national expert in tech-based economic development policy and practice. Jason serves as Principal of Excel Regional Solutions, a firm that strengthens America’s scientific and technological competitiveness by providing expert strategy development, policy communications, and information services that advance regional, state, and federal initiatives.

At Excel and in past roles, Jason has conducted a wide range of activities and projects to advance economic development. Examples include providing guidance for statewide programming in Kentucky, benchmarking biosciences activity in Louisiana, analyzing microbusiness lending in Rhode Island, producing cluster-development courses for a national philanthropy, convening entrepreneur support organizations for the U.S. Small Business Administration, and facilitating the Tech-Based Economic Development Community of Practice for the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Rittenberg has presented and facilitated sessions for multiple federal and state agencies, trade associations, and other organizations. His published work includes News on the Internet: Information and Citizenship in the 21st Century, as well as numerous articles and reports for an array of audiences.

Formerly, Rittenberg was Vice President at the State Science and Technology Institute and Director of Research and Advisory Services at the Council of Development Finance Agencies. Jason has an MA from the University of Illinois and a BS from Ohio University.
