Elizabeth Lee is New America’s Director of People & Culture, bringing a 15+ years of experience shaping people strategy, strengthening organizational effectiveness, and building workplaces where people and organizations can thrive. Lee’s expertise spans employee relations, talent and performance, compensation and benefits, leadership development, and HR policy and compliance.

At New America, Lee leads key areas of People & Culture strategy, including the employee experience, performance and talent practices, manager development, workplace policies, and the systems and processes that support an effective and equitable workplace.

Prior to New America, Lee spent several years as an HR consultant advising nonprofit, education, professional services, government contracting, and mission-driven organizations. Her work combined strategic HR advisory with broad generalist expertise, including organizational and leadership development, employee relations, talent and performance, compensation and benefits, HR policy and compliance, HRIS implementation and optimization, and organizational change.

Earlier in her career, Lee held HR roles at the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and Booz Allen Hamilton, where she built her foundation in strategic HR, talent management, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness.

Lee holds a BS in Law & American Civilization and a BA in Communication Studies from Towson University. As an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and an HR Career Mentor at the SHRM Foundation, Lee has continuously stayed ahead of industry trends and best practices. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace that nurtures professional development and fosters a sense of belonging among team members.

Outside of work, Lee is an avid traveler and fitness enthusiast who enjoys running, strength training, and long walks outdoors. She has a particular love for the water, discovering new places, and experiences that combine adventure, movement, and a chance to recharge.
