Courtney Arnold

Courtney Arnold is the State Partnership Lead for the Eviction Data Response Network at New America.

Prior to joining New America, Arnold was a Case Management Specialist at DC’s Office of the Tenant Advocate (OTA). She provided legal information to tenants about various landlord-tenant issues, including: eviction defense, rent increases, housing conditions, security deposit returns, housing subsidies, and leases. Before joining the OTA, Arnold was a Judicial Law Clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. During her clerkship, Arnold clerked for a rotation of judges who were assigned to the Court’s Civil, Probate, and Mental Habilitation calendars.

In 2018, Arnold was selected as the 2018-19 Berkeley Law Foundation (BLF) Post-Graduate Fellow. Driven by her passions of access to justice, housing stability, elder law, and heirs’ property, Arnold joined the staff at Legal Counsel for the Elderly (AARP). Arnold’s BLF project “Bridging the DC Probate Gap” was dedicated to fulfilling a largely unmet legal need by building a network of knowledge and services around probate, estate planning, and heirs’ property in DC’s economically disadvantaged communities of color.

Prior to attending graduate and law school, Arnold served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Austin, TX at the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life and two years as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year in San Antonio, TX. She was also a University of California, Berkeley Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) Law Fellow in 2011.

Arnold holds a Master of Public Policy and Juris Doctor degree from American University and a BA in Political Science with an Interdisciplinary Minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Furman University.
