cm files (he/they) is the Digital Director at New America, where they lead digital strategy, platform modernization, and cross-organization communications systems. files oversees enterprise-level digital transformation projects, including project lead on a full website redesign, CMS modernization, improved taxonomy and search functionality, and scalable workflows supporting 18+ programs and more than 100 staff.

With nearly more than a decade of experience across digital communications, strategy, and organizational design, files specializes in simplifying complex digital ecosystems, building audience-centered content strategies, and guiding teams through large-scale operational change. Their approach emphasizes clarity, efficiency, and measurable impact.

Before joining New America, files held senior roles at the AFL-CIO and Burson (BCW Global), leading national and global initiatives across labor, economic policy, social equity, and public-sector communications. They bring deep expertise in narrative development, content operations, and cross-channel campaign execution.

files holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications from the University of Missouri–Kansas City.

Outside of work, files is an endurance athlete. They have completed marathons across the United States and internationally, including Boston, Chicago, New York, Sydney, and Ottawa. Through these efforts, files has raised more than $100,000 for nonprofit partners supporting cancer research, disability advocacy, and youth programs. Their commitment to training and consistency mirrors the way they approach complex professional challenges—structured, resilient, and long-term focused.
