Today, OTI joined a broad coalition of civil society organizations in signing a letter calling on Congress to allow the upcoming transfer of the IANA functions from the US government to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

OTI believes that a multistakeholder approach to internet governance is the best chance we have for a free, open, and secure internet. Foreign governments who wish to control the internet will have a harder time doing so when it is under the stewardship of a multinational, multistakeholder organization, rather than residing — even if only in name — with the U.S. government.
