New York Times Columnist David Brooks Joins New America Board of Directors
New
America is pleased to announce the appointment of journalist and commentator David
Brooks to its board of directors.
Mr. Brooks currently writes
for the New York Times on political and cultural issues, and is a
regular commenter on PBS Newshour. In 2015 he published The Road to
Character, in which he explored humility and the strength of character
through a series of short biographical sketches. He previously worked on
the editorial staffs of the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard,
and the Washington Times.
“I am excited about the
work being done at New America,” Mr. Brooks said. “This is an organization
committed to developing big ideas. They also have developed creative ways of
engaging thought leaders and the public around those ideas, and have created a
unique advantage in the very important conversation about technology and
policy.”
“We are delighted to have
David bring inventive ideas to the table,” said New America President Anne-Marie
Slaughter. “His deep grasp of the concepts of values and character will be
integral to our mission of creating a narrative of American renewal across the
country.”
The New America board of
directors is chaired by Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Alphabet,
Inc., and includes top leaders from media, nonprofits, and the private sector.
