New America, Reimagined: Built for What’s Next

At pivotal moments in history, progress depends on people and institutions willing to ask hard questions—and to change in service of the answers. We believe this is one of those moments.

Since our founding in 1999, New America has existed to challenge assumptions about how our country works and put forth bold new ideas on how it could work better. Over more than two and a half decades, our work has driven fundamental debates on economic policy, health insurance, social mobility, education, national security, technology, policy and practice, gender, and political competition. Our New America Fellows Program has launched 170 books and more than 15 feature-length documentary films, injecting new voices into the public realm and shaping the national conversation on subjects ranging from medical ethics to slavery to terrorism.

We have evolved and changed with the times, showing up differently in the world as our people and programs grew and changed. We have responded to the emergence of a new America, a country profoundly shaped by changing demographics, technology, and global interdependence.

After 25 years, it is time for another reassessment. Our country and our world are in turmoil, facing challenges that demand ideas and solutions that meet the magnitude of the changes we are experiencing. Our governments, economies, political and social systems, ways of war and paths to peace, and planetary survival demand bold visions for policy change and new ways of engaging people, sharing knowledge, and translating research into action. To meet those challenges and changes, we also need to evolve and go forward with purpose.

Today, we are so excited to relaunch the New America brand.

Our country and our world are in turmoil, facing challenges that demand ideas and solutions that meet the magnitude of the changes we are experiencing.

This is much more than cosmetics and wordsmithing. At its core, this relaunch is about clarity, consistency, and connection. It is about aligning our external presence with the relevance and urgency of our work—and making it easier for policymakers, practitioners, journalists, and engaged citizens to find what they need, when they need it.

Our mission is clear: We are generating big ideas and bold solutions for a new America. We believe in an America where institutions serve everyone, not just the few, and in which all Americans have an equal chance to shape their government and determine the course of their lives.

We know that good public policy should be measured by real-world impact; that people most affected by problems should help craft the solutions; that democracy, technology, education, security, and family well-being are deeply intertwined; and that narrative change drives policy change.

New America’s updated visual identity—from our new logo and design to our rich colors and clean typography—leans into a modern, unconventional aesthetic that amplifies our role as a nonpartisan organization that champions research and testing over ideological preconceptions and never follows a party line—of any party.

Alongside our relaunched brand and visual identity, our new website represents a fundamental shift in how we share ideas and invite engagement. It’s a more dynamic, accessible, and user-centered platform, rebuilt for how people actually consume information today. Our audience can more easily explore our ideas and solutions across our five issue areas. They can join our events, dive into all of our multimedia content storytelling, and connect with the experts and fellows behind the research. Our goal is simple: to ensure that the people who rely on our work can use it as a blueprint for change.

Our mission is clear: We are generating big ideas and bold solutions for a new America.

We are not changing our commitment to vigorous research and policy analysis that builds a country where institutions work for all Americans, where workers, families, and communities can thrive, and where people are secure from existential threats.

This relaunch marks the beginning of a new era for New America—one grounded in the same forward-looking priorities that have guided us since the start, but equipped with future-ready tools to expand our reach, strengthen our voice, and deepen our impact.

We cannot build what’s next on our own. Explore the new newamerica.org and help us think bigger and act bolder. Let’s all shape a new America—one that works better for everyone.
