NBC News on “Jobs are Not Enough”

MSNBC’s NBC News’ show “The Cycle” is doing feature spots this week on The Washington Monthly’s special, assets-themed issue.

We hosted an event last Wednesday that featured multiple authors from the issue. “Jobs are not Enough” was the theme of the event, and it focused on the necesssity of breaking down barriers to saving and wealth accumulation as a key strategy for restoring a sense of widely shared prosperity in the American middle class. Back to “The Cycle,” yesterday they hosted the editor-in-chief of the Monthly, Paul Glastris, for his take on the overarching frame of the issue, that jobs are not enough to restore prosperity, that supporting saving for average Americans can be done, and that there are a variety of ways to do that (tax reform, children’s savings accounts, and yeah, solar panels) see below for 8 minutes of good television:
