Is Unlimited Growth a Thing of the Past?
by Jay Pelosky
Very powerful piece by Martin Wolf in the Financial Times. Day to day market fluctuations are one thing, but the search for growth may well be the next big thing in financial markets – we have had the search for yield (and it is ongoing); we are entering the search for growth. Wolf’s analysis is convincing and worrisome.
Walking to dinner last night we passed an elderly couple rooting through the trash outside of a supermarket. We had earlier tried to make dinner reservations at two nice places and they were booked. Is this the world we are in and are likely to be in – old folks rooting through trash to find something to eat while high-end restaurants are booked solid?
It is not a very appetizing picture.
