‘Birth to Thrive’ Series on Early Learning and Special Needs

Autism, ADHD, and even depression: For all of these disorders, the diagnosis rates for young children are on the rise, and studies show the importance of early intervention programs for children with developmental delays. And yet the role of special education in high-quality pre-k and PreK-3rd systems is often missing from discussions.

As writer Paul Nyhan asks in a new blog series that started yesterday: “In the expanding debate over building a better early learning system where do these families fit?”

The series will run for the next three weeks, every Tuesday, on the Birth to Thrive blog. It is a must-read. (And it is already leading to deeper dialogue on the local network, KING 5 TV in Seattle.)  Kudos to Nyhan, our friend and fellow blogger, for digging into this issue and putting some important questions on the table.
