Mike Lind argues that for too long, American
thinking about the Vietnam conflict has been hobbled by the rigid orthodoxies
of the right and left. In his new book, he thoughtfully reconsiders
the meaning of Vietnam from the post-Cold War vantage point, which offers
insights inconceivable just ten years ago. Lind examines the Vietnam
conflict in the context of the Cold War, and suggests that America has
been learning the wrong lessons from Vietnam for twenty-five years.
The conclusions of his groundbreaking book are provocative, and the
implications for future American interventions abroad are significant.
