Kenya’s financial market has caught the world’s attention. The rise of mobile money in Kenya has become the interest of financial inclusion experts, the excitement of mobile network operators, and an opportunity for financial institutions to rethink their products and services. However, the data behind this transformation and the impact on financial inclusion efforts are often much less examined and understood.
On May 22nd, presenters from New America Foundation, the World Bank and Mix Market showcased the latest financial inclusion data from Kenya — collected, wrangled, and visualized — and examined what they tell us about the future of global financial inclusion efforts. All presentations are available in the toolbar on the right.
The event also launched the report “Savings for the Poor In Kenya” and a Kenya Financial Inclusion Data Page both products of the Savings for the Poor Innovation and Knowledge Network (SPINNAKER).
For those on Twitter looking for a recap, the event was live tweeted by @GlobalAssetsNAF using the hashtag #KenyaData2012.
