After the recent re-election of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the conversations around the future of Israel and the surrounding region have reached renewed fervor. But in a time when Israel and Palestine seem as hopelessly divided as ever, the usual efforts of diplomacy may not be enough.

Erez Miller and Henrique
Cymerman’s East Jerusalem / West Jerusalem offers another way:
music as a force for change. The film follows Israeli singer-songwriter and life-long peace activist David Broza, whose music and
activism works to build a bridge for the renewed goals of peace and
understanding, even within a longtime conflict zone. For eight days in a small
East Jerusalem recording studio, Broza and singer-songwriter Steve Earle team
up with an ensemble of Israelis, Palestinian – young stars from the Shuafat
refugee camp – and American musicians to share stories, break bread and let
their voices and instruments create harmony and new, joyful anthems for peace.

Join New America NYC for
a screening of East Jerusalem / West Jerusalem followed by a
conversation with David Broza and Lisa Goldman about the future of the region and the possibilities for peaceful coexistence. The conversation
will be followed by the performance of a few songs.
