Comments on Distance Education and Innovation Proposed Rule

The Department published a proposed regulation on distance education and other policies related to innovation in April 2020. On May 4, 2020, New America's Amy Laitinen and Clare McCann submitted public comments that urged the Department not to weaken important consumer protection requirements, noting that the quality of online education has never been more important as institutions and students are forced online by the COVID-19 pandemic.
