Jake Maguire is a Senior Advisor to the Family Economic Security and Wellbeing Cluster at New America, where he works with teams to refine their strategies and establish the planning and operating rhythms required to deliver results.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in social impact strategy and nonprofit performance management, with a particular focus on facilitating collaborative strategy and measurement design to enable large-scale change. For six years, he served as Principal and Co-Director of the Built for Zero initiative at Community Solutions, an organization he helped to found. Built for Zero worked with more than 100 U.S. communities to measurably reduce and end homelessness through the application of continuous improvement and collective impact approaches, including 15 communities who fully ended homelessness for at least one population. In 2021, that effort was awarded the MacArthur Foundation’s $100 million 100&Change prize for global problem solving—the largest competition grant of its kind.

In addition to his role at New America, Maguire is President and Founder of Little Crane Consulting, where he partners with private and nonprofit social impact initiatives to design strategy, strengthen performance, and drive lasting systems change. His career has spanned strategy and communications roles across the government, nonprofit, and private sectors.

He holds a BA from Amherst College and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
