Anke Marais

Senior Associate, Future of Land and Housing

Anke Marais is a Senior Associate with New America’s Future of Land and Housing program, where she supports the Eviction Data Response Network.

Prior to joining New America, Marais worked at a grassroots NGO in the Philippines, where she led external partnership development and fundraising efforts. Previously, Marais worked at Bread for the World’s Policy and Research Institute, contributing to U.S. policy research at the intersection of food security and climate change. She also served as a USAID/BHA-Habitat Humanitarian Shelter and Settlements Fellow with Habitat for Humanity Malawi, where she supported housing research and advocacy in informal settlements, as well as disaster risk reduction and recovery efforts for housing in vulnerable rural regions.

Marais holds a MA in International Development Studies from the George Washington University, and a BSc. in Architecture and BA in Heritage, Museum and Preservation Studies from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
