Methodology

The NPSAS 2012 analysis uses the DataLab from the Education Department’s National Center for Education Statistics. Unless otherwise noted, the data are given for loans borrowed in 2011–12 by dependent student status. This report focuses on PLUS loans for racial/ethnic groups. In some of the following tables, calculations were also made for other racial/ethnic populations, such as American Indian, or those who are more than one race. Foreign students are excluded from these calculations. The BPS 04 analysis also uses the DataLab. This analysis gives data on loans cumulatively borrowed over a 12-year period starting in 2003–04. This report focuses on PLUS loans for four racial/ethnic groups: white, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian.
