An Assessment of Variation in National Processes of Defining and Designating Terrorist Groups

Abstract

This report maps the variation in how national governments designate organizations as terrorist groups and suggests future avenues of analysis regarding what factors generate variations in designation practices. The report draws upon a survey of the designation practices of 196 countries.
