OTI Condemns Misleading Net Neutrality Report
Earlier this week, a document was published that outlined “general principles” for net neutrality. The document purports to be the result of a series of roundtable discussions that included dozens of civil society and industry groups. New America's Open Technology Institute (OTI) was an early participant of the roundtable and withdrew its membership.
The following statement can be attributed to Joshua Stager, senior counsel for New America’s Open Technology Institute:
“OTI participated in this roundtable and we do not support this document. It ignores critical issues and does not reflect true consensus. We are also troubled by the document’s vague and misleading assertions about who participated in the roundtable. The document does not list any groups or individuals by name, nor does it include any public endorsements of the conclusions. Anyone reading it should do so with a critical eye and intense skepticism.”
