  • 12PM – 1:30PM EDT

This event was hosted by the New America Foundation’s National Security Studies Program along with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and was a discussion on Pakistan featuring Daud Khattak, senior editor for RFE/RL’s Pakistan service, Radio Mashaal.

Radio Mashaal was established in 2010 to counter the growing presence of extremist media in Pakistan’s northwest tribal areas. Khattak, who has covered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas for English-language and Pashto press for more than a dozen years, will report on the regional impact of the U.S. drone program, extremism and militancy in the region, and the implications of a negotiated settlement in Afghanistan for stability across the border.
