Many countries look to the United States and its policies as a benchmark for human rights and progressive values. Including LGBTQ+ representation in national security policy making demonstrates a commitment to upholding human rights, equality, and nondiscrimination principles at home and abroad. It sends a powerful message that LGBTQ+ rights are an essential part of a just and inclusive society. It is for these reasons and so many more that we celebrate and encourage  LGBTQ+ representation in both foreign policy and national security policy development.

On Tuesday, June 27, please join Planetary Politics and Out in National Security for a discussion on being out in national security and an appreciation for those that are — including this year’s Out in National Security Leaders and New Voices.

New America is a proud partner of Out in National Security, a non-profit non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering queer national security professionals.

Co-hosted by Out in National Security and the New America Planetary Politics program.

Follow the conversation online with @PlanetaryPol and @OutInNatSec.
