Is Pre-K The Little Engine that Could?

We don’t think that’s the question Checker Finn had in mind when he wrote his most recent book, but the cover of Finn’s Rerouting the Preschool Juggernaut sure put us in mind of Watty Piper’s classic children’s book:

On Thursday, June 4, I’ll be discussing I discussed the book with Finn, NIEER’s Steve Barnett and the CATO Institute’s Neal McCluskey at what promises to be a lively event at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. UPDATE: You can see full video of that event here.

We offered our own take on Finn’s arguments against universal pre-k a few weeks back. You can also read responses from the Washington Post’s Jay Matthews and from the Dallas Foundation’s Mary Jalonick and Regen Fearon.
