50 State Councils Apply for Fed Dollars

Sometime in the next month, the majority of states and several territories

The ECAC grants are being paid for with $100 million in ARRA dollars. They are three-year grants.

• The grant money will be distributed by September 1st.

• 50 states and territories submitted applications by the August 1st deadline. Seven did not. Can you tell me which 7?

­- As you and your staff analyze the applications, you may find that some states need to go back and check their numbers to ensure that the “match” is 70 percent or that they have met other requirements in the application

• There may be an opportunity for “supplemental” grants if, because only 50 of 57 applied, the money is not fully disbursed. Do I have this right?

• The National Governors’ Association is partnering with ACF to support implementation of the councils in 6 states (they are: VT, KS, LA, RI, OR, WA)

• Applications will be posted online in their entirety later this year.
